Podiatry Services in NYC
Foot pain, nail concerns, skin changes, and ankle discomfort can affect the way you walk, exercise, work, and move through daily life. Podiatry care helps identify what is causing the problem and gives you a clearer path forward. At Columbus Circle Foot Care, Dr. David B. Dixon, DPM, provides foot and ankle care for patients in NYC who need evaluation, prevention, and treatment for common podiatric concerns.
Dr. Dixon has more than 40 years of podiatry experience in Manhattan and is certified by the American Board of Podiatric Orthopedics and Podiatric Medicine. His background supports care for patients with heel pain, nail problems, foot discomfort, sports-related concerns, diabetic foot problems, and other conditions that affect daily comfort.
Consultations
Dr. Dixon invites you to schedule an appointment for a consultation, during which your feet and ankles will be thoroughly examined for any potential abnormalities, while your medical and family histories will be reviewed as well. Patients who experience pain or are just concerned about their foot health can benefit from a consultation with Dr. Dixon.
Permanent Correction of Ingrown Toenail
An ingrown toenail is a common condition involving the corner of the toenail growing into the skin of the toe. Severe or recurrent cases may require removal of the nail and underlying tissue in order to remove the infection. This can be done through a chemical or other appropriate procedure, depending on each patient’s individual condition.
Cryosurgery for Warts
Plantar warts are non-cancerous growths that develop on the soles of the feet as a result of the human papillomavirus (HPV), appearing as a small, hard bump that may cause pain or tenderness when walking. These warts can be removed through several different noninvasive procedures, including cryosurgery, which uses freezing cold temperatures to destroy abnormal tissue cells on the skin.
Routine Foot Care
Healthy feet can be maintained through routine foot care with an experienced professional and by following basic preventive measures. Dr. Dixon diagnoses, treats, and helps prevent common foot conditions through regular evaluation and practical care recommendations. Patients are encouraged to see Dr. Dixon on a regular basis to reduce the risk of serious problems.
Custom Orthotics
Orthotics are devices worn in the shoe to alter or modify abnormal foot behavior. They aim to treat, adjust, and support different disorders of the foot. While over-the-counter inserts may help with general support, custom orthotics can better match a patient’s specific foot structure, pressure points, and symptoms.
Foot and Ankle X-Rays
X-ray imaging can help evaluate bone injuries and joint concerns such as fractures, arthritis, bone spurs, alignment changes, and other conditions affecting the foot and ankle. The entire procedure takes just a few minutes to perform in the office. Foot and ankle X-rays use a low level of radiation, and Dr. Dixon recommends imaging when it can help clarify a diagnosis or guide care.
Physical Therapy
Physical therapy involves the rehabilitation of an injured bone, muscle, tendon, ligament, or joint in order to relieve pain and restore function to the affected area. Dr. Dixon may recommend customized stretching and strengthening exercises, aiming to enhance flexibility, coordination, posture, balance, and gait. Care may vary depending on each patient’s individual condition.
